Hi! Welcome to our video on using Bïrch’s advanced tips for Meta automated rules: custom timeframes, metric comparison, and ranking conditions. These tools give you flexibility to create powerful automated rules, far beyond what’s possible with Meta’s native tools. Let’s dive in!
Custom timeframes let you analyze specific periods for each condition. In Bïrch, go to “Custom Timeframes,” and click “Create a New Custom Timeframe.” Use the timeline slider to set periods like “2-3 days ago” or “3-6 hours ago.”For example, you can evaluate an ad set’s spend over “2-3 days ago” to ensure it’s active before triggering an action. You can also create timeframes directly in the rule builder for seamless setup.
Metric comparison lets you compare one metric to another. For instance, check if an ad set’s website purchase ROAS is below its parent campaign’s average ROAS. In the rule builder, hover over the value, click the gear icon, and select “Metric” Choose the campaign-level ROAS and the same time period. If the ad set’s ROAS is lower, trigger actions like decreasing the budget. You can also compare a metric across periods, like this week’s ROAS versus last week’s, to monitor performance changes.
Let’s combine these features in a rule called “25% Drop in Conversion Rate.” Apply it to active ad sets, set to notify once daily. Select a custom conversion rate custom metric for “today and yesterday,” then use metric comparison to check if it’s less than 75% of the conversion rate from your “2-3 days ago” custom timeframe. Add conditions to ensure spending, like “spend > $10” for both periods. This rule alerts you if the conversion rate drops by 25%, so you can take immediate action by pausing underperformers or adjusting the budgets.
Ranking conditions let you compare and rank performance of ads inside the same ad set, or ad sets inside the same campaign. Let’s create a rule that will identify top performing ad sets inside each campaign and give them a budget boost. We’ll name it “Increase Budget by Ranking” and apply to active ad sets. Set the task to increase the budget by 15% daily if the ad set’s ROAS is in the top 25% of its campaign over the last 3 days. In the rule builder, select “Website Purchase ROAS,” choose “Ranking,” and set “within 25% top.” Add a condition to ensure ROAS is at least 1.2 to avoid boosting poor performers. Ranking adapts dynamically to boost performance within the parent campaign.
With custom timeframes, metric comparisons, and rankings, you can build smarter, more precise rules. These features give you full control and automation that adapts in real-time.
Try them in your next rule - and see the difference in performance.
