Hi! Here's a step-by-step guide to help you create a Post Boosting rule and start promoting your organic Meta or Instagram posts automatically. Once a post gains enough traction, Bïrch will boost it for you—putting one more part of your Meta Ads workflow on autopilot. Stick around to see how it works.
In this example, we’ll create a rule to boost any page post that contains the word “sale” in the text and has an engagement rate higher than 3%. This helps ensure your high-performing promotional content gets more visibility without needing to manually monitor and promote each post.
Click “Post boosting” > “Create rule”.
Give your rule a name and select a page source. (In this example, we’re using Meta.) Each page needs its own individual rule.
Under “Post”, choose which types of posts you want to boost and how many can be promoted at the same time. I’ll set mine to 2 posts. Here’s how it works:
If two posts are currently being boosted and a newer one meets the criteria, the oldest one gets paused to make room for the new one. Priority always goes to newer posts, and the same post will not be promoted more than once by the same rule.
Now let’s add conditions. I’ll choose:
So if I publish a post with “sale” in the text and its engagement rate exceeds 3%, it will be automatically boosted.
Each boosted post is launched as a new ad set within one campaign.
Set your base campaign name, e.g., Auto Post Boosting, and use a Macro to add the ad account name dynamically.
Select your campaign objective based on post type:
Down the page, you can set up a Special Ad Category if applicable. Then, proceed to Advantage Campaign Budget (formerly known as CBO), where you can set the campaign - level budget and apply a campaign spending limit.
This is where auto post boosting becomes especially useful: you’re not limited to promoting posts to page followers. Click “+ Audience”, then choose your custom or lookalike audiences, add location and any other filters. Give the audience a name and click Save. It will be stored in Bïrch for future use.
Alternatively, you can use any existing audiences from your Meta account. Just add them to “Saved audiences” in Business Manager, and they’ll automatically appear in Bïrch for you to use.
Set the daily budget and bid strategy if budget is defined on ad set level. Select the optimization goal, billing event and set duration for how long each post should run.
Next is selecting placements. You can either go with Advantage+ placements, which allows the algorithm to choose the best-performing ones, or manually select placements to cross-promote Meta posts on Instagram and vice versa.
On the Ad tab, select the Instagram account in case you are boosting Instagram posts.
Set up URL parameters so you can track which campaign a user came from when they click on your ad and land on your website.
Next add conversion tracking details and enable notifications to get alerts when a post is boosted - so you’re always in the loop.
Click “Create” to activate your rule.
To check how the rule is working, hover over the rule and click “Logs”.
You’ll see every check the rule has performed, and can click each one for more detail.
This is just one more way to automate your Meta advertising. By creating individual auto post boosting rules based on post type or keywords, you can get really creative - and hands - free - with how you promote your best content.
